They are figures that are both sacred and profane. They are the ultimate example of overdoing everything they set about. Often pictured with watermelons, this connotes gluttony. This Kachina is in good shape, it shows the watermelon juice dripping down his face, hands, and shirt.

Corn Maiden: This Kachina is the most common female impersonation. She is said to purify the women who grind corn for ceremonies and other purposes. Yellow Corn Maiden dances with household wares and is often seen dancing with Long Hair Shalako.

Kwahu, the Eagle Kachina, appears most often with Mudheads in the Kiva or Repeat Dances of early March. The dance is a conscious effort to duplicate the actions and motions of eagles and is a prayer for an increase of eagles.

This Kachina goes by many names. Aya, or Tuskiapaya, Rattle or Crazy Rattle Runner. The Crazy Rattle Runner carry yucca which they use on any racer who looses, to give several hard swats. If, however, the man should win, he will be given piki bread.
